The great drummer Art Blakey was born on Oct. 11, 1919 in Pittsburgh. Here his band — Art Blakey’s Jazz Messingers — plays Moanin’ in Belgium in 1958. Lee Morgan is trumpet, Benny Golson on Tenor, Bobby Timmons on piano and Jymie Merritt on bass.
